Failed Experiments :

Hostel Daze Season 3 starts with Jhaatu stealing chemistry lab equipment for his expenses. Introduction tells us about the different paths taken by these friends in the third year. Ankit and Akanksha are quite serious about their relation now and are engrossed in their own world. Chirag is busy making an app with his new friends for combine studies. Nabomita gets a makeover and becomes the typical popular girl of the college getting attention of all boys. Jaat has become serious for his studies and is aware about not getting a job if he does not study properly. Jhaatu is anxious looking at others doing productive stuff and feels worried about himself.

Nabomita becomes all cool in this season and gets along with boys comfortably but the boys only want to make her their girlfriend. Nabo is not looking for such a thing instead she was looking for a pure friendship. Her new friends upload some of her obscene pictures and they go viral in college which worries her a lot. Chirag comes to her rescue and deletes the whole app which saves Nabo from this problem.

Wing Chor :

This episode starts with scenes of stealing in the hostel, everyone is confused about what is happening in the Hostel. Chirag decides that he will detect the thief and takes get up of numerous detectives such as Byomkesh Bakshi, Sherlock Holmes, etc.

Chirag follows Jhaatu and number of sequences with other characters have been shown where he tries to get leads against each of the character who might be the thief. Will he be able to catch the thief will be answered in this episode.

Lights Camera Cut :

Hostel Daze Season 3 also shows the competition side in a college. In this competition Chirag and his friends feel sad about losing the poetry competition but the hostel seniors cheer them to do good in the rest of the competition. The next competition is about making a short film in which Chirag decides to take all the credit for being the director, producer, and writer of the skit.

Chirag casts Ankit as the lead and Jaat as the supporting actor which depresses Jaat. Nabo is the cameraman and Akanksha is Makeup and Hair Stylist. Jatin is the spot boy but he refuses to be one. To get the work done Chirag tells Jatin that he will handle money matters i.e Production House.

Chirag is unable to complete the movie since Hostel 2 people disturb them with a drone and they reach all the spots before Hostel 3 and Hostel 3 is not able to get shoot locations to complete their short film. But they somehow complete the short film.

Hostel 2 short film gets a good response while screening whereas people laugh at Hostel 3’s movie, Chirag gets very emotional and goes to the canteen. Everyone gathers near the hostel and Chirag thinks they will cheer him up for losing. Instead, they come with the trophy because judges and the audience loved their story being related to nature.

Dosti Ka Udhar :

Ankit and Akanksha have a fight since Akanksha does not like act of Ankit of lending money to his friends, especially Chirag. Ankit asks Chirag to return his money and they both have a fight. Now they get divided into 2 groups Ankit, Akanksha, Nabo and Chirag, Jaat, and Jhaatu. This episode tells you about whether their bond breaks or not.

G.S.H.A :

Jhaatu wants to stand for election and is trying to clean his image. He stops swearing, Alcohol, and smoking. His opponent Sridhar is a studious, smart, and chocolate boy kind of guy. We see a lot of election campaigns in this episode and a battle between these two. Who wins the election and what efforts Jhaatu takes for the elections is shown in this episode.

Dear Seniors :

Ankit and Akanksha are almost about to break up in this episode. Seniors have their farewell moment and there is a competition between H2 and H3 about who gives the best farewell to their seniors. Ankit and Akanksha are already having their cold war and other members also don’t do much which leads to seniors not getting their farewell.

Seniors and Juniors have an argument that hurts the juniors. Juniors decide to give a magnificent party. Ankit and Akanksha have a mature conversation and give closure to each other and move on. Nabo realizes that she loves Chirag and convinces Chirag that he also loves her.

Positives :

Hostel Daze Season 3 does not exceed our expectations but beautifully portrays the Hostel life with numerous events happening in each dedicated episodes. Dialogues are well written with a feel of spoof comedy and references have also been taken from Bollywood. These elements add a touch of well written comedy in few parts in the season. Episodes are quite short and they won’t waste a lot of your time. The song at the end of the season is also quite good.

Negatives :

There is less of story line and more of baseless events (Bakchodi) happening which a typical college student goes through. There is no proper connection between the episodes. It gives a feel of sketch videos with each episode being related to a different topic, except last two episodes where we feel a little connection between the two episodes. The relevance to real life is missing and a little over the top story has been shown.

Performances :

Performances of characters feel over the top due to the demand of the story line. Nikhil Vijay as Jhaatu blends college life’s baseless mischiefs (Bakchodi) and emotions really well and stands out as a performer. Shubham as Jaat and Luv as Chirag also deliver good performances. Ankit’s role has been replaced by Utsav Sarkar who does a decent job but such character changes loses the touch and emotions of audiences. Cameos from famous stand up comedians acts as a cherry on the cake.

Conclusion :

Hostel Daze Season 3 is a decent sequel but does not live up to the expectations. TVF being known for its quality has missed the trick here. Only episode 2 was a little funny but rest of the episodes can be rated as average. TVF should be really concerned about losing their brand of producing quality content. If you are a fan of college Bakchodi you can watch this season without much expectation.
